occur without the existence of the hallucinated object.<\/p><p>These transcend by the <strong>conviction of absolute reality<\/strong> and occur in the context of various pathologies.<\/p><p>For the most part, visual hallucinations are <strong>organic<\/strong>.<br>Visual hallucinations can be:<\/p><p>&#8211; <strong>Simple<\/strong> (e.g., flashes of light, colored spots).<\/p><p>&#8211; <strong>Complex<\/strong> (e.g. animals, people, landscapes).<br>May originate in the <strong>visual cerebral cortex<\/strong> and association areas.<\/p><p>The responsible <strong>causes<\/strong> are broad, including withdrawal syndromes (e.g. alcohol), drugs, toxicants, metabolic disorders, structural brain diseases and degenerative brain diseases (e.g. dementia with Lewy bodies, Alzheimer&#8217;s disease).<\/p><p>In older people, visual hallucinations associated with a <strong>bilateral visual deficit<\/strong> may appear, unrelated to any specific pathology, such as Charles Bonnet syndrome.<\/p><\/main><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46a541b elementor-align-center elementor-widget
