The Neurology Service obtains the Service Check of the Community of Madrid to care for dependent patients at home.

The Community of Madrid has granted the Neurology Service of the Ruber Internacional Hospital the accreditation of the Service Check that allows our neurorehabilitators to attend patients with recognized degree of dependence at home.
The team of professionals is made up of physiotherapists, neuropsychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists who, from now on, will go from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., to the homes of dependent patients to attend, although they must be over 65 years old (or 55 years old if they have some kind of neurological impairment or disability), and people with brain damage or neurodegenerative disease at any stage.
Neurorehabilitators will be in charge of assessing deficits and needs in order to establish an adequate and individualized treatment plan; designing rehabilitation programs, both motor and cognitive; maintaining or improving the patient’s functionality in order to improve their independence and personal autonomy; informing both the patient and their relatives about aspects related to the recovery or progression of the disease, counseling and accompaniment; and making proposals for stimulation and strategies so that they can carry out their daily lives in the best conditions.
Likewise, the Neurology Service professionals who visit patients’ homes will help them to recover, replace or compensate for cognitive, emotional and behavioral sequelae; promote their participation in social life; minimize stress levels and avoid abnormal psychological reactions; as well as improve or maintain cognitive performance in daily, school or work functioning.
Every week the team will meet to know the evolution of the patient and set new goals or reevaluate the established ones. However, neuropsychological evaluations will be performed every six months with the same instruments used in the initial evaluation.
