Neuro Ophthalmology Unit

The Neuro-ophthalmology Unit, led by Dr. Alberto Gálvez, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of visual disorders of neurological origin, such as optic neuropathies, visual field defects, loss of vision of central cause, visual pathway disorders due to tumor or demyelinating compression, double vision (diplopia) and nystagmus.

Because the specialty encompasses both neurology and ophthalmology, we also see patients referred by neurologists and ophthalmologists in our offices. All of them, including children, undergo a detailed clinical history and a complete neurological and ophthalmological examination.

In cases where a diagnostic plan is needed, due to the complexity of the problem, we perform complementary diagnostic tests on an outpatient basis that allow us to decide the most appropriate treatment in each specific case.
