Fall prevention workshop

The risk of falls increases with age. Half of all people over the age of 65 suffer at least one fall a year, resulting in injuries that The consequences are physical, such as decreased mobility, and psychological, such as loss of independence. Fall prevention programs have proven to be effective in reducing this risk.

Objective of the workshop: to prevent falls and learn how to act when a fall occurs.

Aimed at: people over 65 years of age who have had 2 or more falls in the last year or who are unstable or clumsy when walking.

Duration: 8 weeks, with 2 sessions of 45 minutes per week.

Content: each session will have a theoretical part with information on those factors that increase the risk of falls and a practical part with physiotherapy (balance exercises, walking, muscle strengthening and training on how to act after a fall). The sessions will be group sessions (4-6 people) and will be led by the team of physiotherapists of the Neurorehabilitation Unit of the Neurology Service.

Place: the functional rehabilitation room (gymnasium) of the Neurorehabilitation Unit of the Neurology Service (second floor).
