Insomnia talks for patients

Dr. Laura Lillo will give three lectures on insomnia for patients insomnia talks

(Madrid. Lucila Rodríguez)

The co-director of the Sleep Medicine Unit of the Neurology Service of the Ruber Internacional Hospital, Dr. Laura Lillo, is going to give three online talks on insomnia for patients in order to make them aware of the importance of this problem in their general health.

All three, with free access, will be held at 6 p.m. on January 23, January 30 and February 7. In online format.

Although it affects 30% of the population, especially women and the elderly, insomnia is often underdiagnosed.

“It is the most common sleep disorder but it is not highly valued as a disease, so patients do not always consult, nor are they referred to a sleep specialist,” says Dr. Lillo, whose team usually sees between 110 and 165 patients for this cause each year.

It is, therefore, a problem that increases if we take into account that insomnia, characterized by the difficulty in falling asleep or having a ‘restful sleep’, usually causes during the day symptoms such as fatigue, memory loss, social problems, increased risk of errors or accidents at work, headaches or gastrointestinal symptoms, among others.

For all these reasons, the doctor will explain during the three talks, which will last about 30 minutes, what are the causes and consequences of insomnia, how it is diagnosed and, finally, how it is treated.

In addition, patients who participate will have the opportunity to ask him any questions they deem appropriate.

If you are interested in attending these talks in online format you can register to receive the invitation and be able to connect!
