Brachial plexus diseases

Brachial plexus diseases involve pain, decreased movement or sensation in the arm-shoulder caused by a neurological problem.

Brachial plexopathy (a form of peripheral neuropathy) occurs when there is damage to the area on each side of the neck (the nerve roots come from the spinal cord and divide into the nerves of the arms). This type of injury is usually related to nerve, stretch injuries, pressure from possible tumors in the area or damage as a result of radiation therapy.

Symptoms are varied: pain in the shoulder area, numbness of the area, weakness and/or painful or tingling sensations.
