Brain glioma

A brain glioma is a tumor derived from glial cells. Under normal conditions, glial cells act as a structural and metabolic support system necessary for the proper functioning of neurons.

In the case of gliomas, excessive cell proliferation occurs, capable of causing local symptoms (e.g. loss of strength or sensation, impairment of higher functions) and general symptoms (e.g. headache, vomiting, low level of consciousness).

Brain gliomas include several types, depending on their cellular composition (astrocytomas, ependymomas, oligodengrogliomas) and their degree of malignancy (grades I to IV).
