Cavernous angioma, also known as cavernoma, is a vascular malformation in the form of a “blackberry” made up of blood vessels that have a slow flow.

It is located in the brain and spinal cord.

It has a highly variable clinical course. From cavernous angiomas that do not cause symptoms, to those that cause epileptic seizures or cerebral hemorrhages.

It is more frequent that they appear in an isolated and sporadic form (not inherited), although there are hereditary cases in which the lesions are multiple.
