Charcot Marie tooth disease (CMT)
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is a series of genetic disorders that affect the movement and sensation of the limbs. It is a degenerative disease that causes damage to the peripheral nerves (which control muscles and sensation) and is caused by a series of genetic mutations.
Symptomatology usually appears earlier in young patients, even children. The first symptom is usually a very high instep or difficulty walking, but there are many different symptoms. As it has a genetic origin, it is hereditary and in the case of suffering from it or suffering from risk factors, it is advisable to consult a geneticist when having children.
