An epileptic seizure is an excessive abnormal discharge of neurons.

This discharge has the capacity to propagate to other neurons and thus spread throughout the cerebral cortex.

The neurons involved in this discharge are activated in an uncontrolled manner, so that during the seizure they cannot perform their normal function.

For this reason, during a crisis, problems appear in memory, movement control, sensitivity, speech, attention or other functions.
