Entrapments or lesions of the terminal branches of the trigeminal nerve, other than the nasociliary and supraorbital nerves, may cause referred pain in the area innervated by the affected branch.

Examples are neuralgia of the infraorbital, lingual, alveolar and mentonian nerves.
