Kennedy’s disease, also known as progressive spinobulbar muscular atrophy, is one of a group of degenerative motor neuron diseases (affecting cells of the nervous system that control involuntary muscle movements).

Symptoms include muscle atrophy due to lower motor neuron involvement. It may present as muscle weakness (predominantly in the limbs and pectoral girdle) and/or atrophy of the tongue and chin (with swallowing and speech disturbances).
