Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease characterized by symptomatic weakness that predominates in certain muscle groups and typically fluctuates in response to exertion and rest.

Ocular signs and symptoms are frequent initial manifestations. These patients report ptosis and/or diplopia.
