Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder, autoimmune in origin, that presents with excessive daytime sleepiness, episodes of cataplexy or emotionally triggered weakness (laughter), interrupted nighttime sleep, episodes of sleep paralysis and “vivid dreams”.

It is very rare and its manifestations usually appear in adolescents and young adults, although many cases debut in childhood.

Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment can control the symptoms.
