Psychophysiological insomnia

(See “Insomnia“).

Psychophysiological insomnia is insomnia not associated with medical, neurological (including primary sleep disorders) or psychiatric illnesses or with the use of drugs or medication.

Psychophysiological insomnia usually appears in subjects with a certain degree of anxiety, perfectionists and with erroneous expectations about sleep.

In these patients, pharmacological treatment should be accompanied by a cognitive-behavioral approach.
