Parasomnia occurring during deep sleep (NREM) and characterized by episodes of wandering, partial awakening and sometimes babbling and complex motor behaviors.

The subject with somnambulism remains with his eyes open and, upon awakening in the morning, does not remember anything of what happened. These episodes usually appear during the first half of the night.
