Tics

They are abnormal movements (motor tics) or abnormal sounds (phonic tics) that vary in severity. Motor tics can be simple movements, such as shrugging the shoulders or blinking repeatedly, or more complex, such as touching the button on the shirt, or moving the head and shoulders at the same time. The range of phonic tics goes from the occasional throat clearing to the uncontrolled emission of insults. When the person has motor and phonic tics he is diagnosed of the Syndrome of Gilles de la Tourette. The tics are usually preceded by an uncomfortable sensation or internal restlessness that is resolved after the realization of the movement or sound. With the passage of time the tics can disappear or worsen being difficult to predict which will be the evolution. They require treatment only if they interfere in the life of the person.
