Tonic crises
Tonic seizures are characterized by a sudden stiffening of the musculature affecting the entire trunk and all four limbs.
This type of crisis can cause violent and traumatic falls.
They usually occur in epilepsies with other seizure types and are often difficult to control.
Sometimes they occur only or predominantly during sleep.
