Dr. Marta Sanz has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the UCM (1991), specialist in psychiatry (1995) and PhD in Psychiatry from the UCM (1996).
After 25 years of professional experience, I am in an optimal professional moment, from a humanistic and integrative vision, to help the patient identify the reasons for their suffering and offer an individualized plan that takes care of the psychological and physical aspects, conflict management and stress variables.
Since the beginning of my professional life I have worked in different resources both in the public and private sector: Short Hospitalization Units (Hospital Gregorio Marañón; Short Hospitalization Unit of Hospital Rodriguez Lafora; Hospital Severo Ochoa); Mental Health Centers (Mental Health Center of Colmenar; Fuenlabrada and Leganés). I have led with active commitment specialized programs in the field of psychiatry as gerontopsychiatry; Eating Disorders; Continuity of Care for children and adolescents and adults. As previously reflected for at least 6 years I work actively and in an optimal teamwork in the programs of the Neurology Department: Functional Movement Disorders Program, Epilepsy Program, Migraine Program, Cognitive Impairment Program, Radio Surgery in Obsessive Disorder.
Close contact and coordinated work with other professionals has enriched my knowledge and sharpened my clinical intuition to identify and alleviate the causes of psychic suffering.
I have training in different psychotherapeutic techniques which allows me to make a good team with psychologists of different orientations for a coordinated attention to the patient. Taking into account the evolution of the psychotherapeutic work allows me to adjust the pharmacological treatment minimizing side effects and increasing the effectiveness of the intervention.
I have always taken care of the academic and updating aspect essential to maintain quality care. I also spent some time working as a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and the Maudsley Hospital enriching my perspective of clinical work and research at an international level. I completed my doctoral thesis on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I have been Head of Studies at the Psychiatric Hospital of Leganés for 5 years. I have collaborated in different research projects and academic initiatives. I am always open to participate in initiatives that involve a greater awareness of the importance of caring for the emotional world and an increase in social and cultural resources for better coping with Mental Health problems.
