The Dr. Monica Kurtis is a national and international reference in the area of movement disorders.
Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, she studied medicine at the University of Navarra. After completing her specialty in Neurology (MIR) in Madrid, she continued her training at Columbia University in New York, where she specialized in clinical care and neurophysiology of movement disorders. In this way, he acquired extensive experience in the diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of parkinsonism, dystonia, chorea, ataxia and tics.
In 2011 she received the award for the best young neurologist in movement disorders by the study group of the Spanish Society of Neurology. She has numerous publications in neurology books and international specialized journals.
She has a special interest in promoting the education of patients, families and the general public in movement disorders. She is a member of the Education Committee of the International Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders Society*, founder of the blog neurofriendly.org and regularly collaborates with patient associations giving talks and training courses.
