For the fourth consecutive year, our Epilepsy Program Team, led by Dr. Gil-Nagel, has organized the “IV Course on Video-EEG Monitoring”, aimed at neurologists, neuropediatricians and neurophysiologists, who want to deepen their clinical and neurophysiological diagnosis.
Due to the particular circumstances of this edition, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the course has been adapted, offering the content virtually. With the same approach as in previous editions, promoting the active participation of specialists, and transmitting this knowledge from a practical and dynamic point of view. Including lectures and case studies, to explain the technical aspects of electroencephalography, semiology and EEG of focal and generalized epilepsies, diagnosis of status epilepticus and related conditions, stereo-electroencephalography and surgery results.
The course is aimed at neurologists, neuropediatricians and neurophysiologists, with special interest in epilepsy, who want to deepen their clinical and neurophysiological diagnosis.
This year, so that participants could have the opportunity to actively participate, and as a novelty, the talks were sent in advance, so that they could see them and ask questions related to the topics covered.
During June 25 and 26, through two virtual sessions:
- Review of the talks, with time for questions from participants and comments from the speakers.
- Review of real clinical cases divided into four groups of 8/9 attendees per presenter.
All this has been possible thanks to an online platform that has allowed screen sharing of video EEG equipment and MR images, allowing interactive participation in the review of cases, in the diagnostic process, and in routine clinical practice. In this way it has been possible to review for each patient the possible diagnoses and therapeutic approaches, which in many cases can be open-ended.
These sessions have been taught by experienced neurologists specialized in epilepsy.
