The Dr. Milagros Merino Andreu is Head of the Sleep Medicine Program at the Hospital Rúber Internacional and also Coordinator of the Neurological Sleep Disorders Unit at the Hospital Universitario La Paz, a recognized center in the international Orphanet network (knowledge and research on rare diseases and orphan drugs), both in Madrid. Specialist in Clinical Neurophysiology and Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, he has been trained at the Hospital Universitario La Paz and at the Federations des Pathologies du Sommeil (Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière, Paris), center in which he has also developed an intense assistance and research activity as “médecin attaché” after finishing his training. He is accredited in Sleep Medicine by the Spanish Committee for Accreditation in Sleep Medicine (CEAMS) and holds the title of “European Somnologist. Expert in Sleep Medicine” by the European Sleep Research Society.
She currently develops a research activity that includes clinical and genetic aspects of sleep disorders in the pediatric and adult population. Member of the Spanish Sleep Society, where she has been coordinator of the Pediatric Group, secretary of the Board of Directors and, currently, member of the Scientific Committee and Delegate of the World Sleep Day in Spain, she also belongs to other national and international scientific societies such as European Sleep Research Society, International Pediatric Sleep Association or American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
